Wings
Honestly did not love this but I feel like it’s just too outdated to be appreciated in 2026. Im sure it was probably good at the time and groundbreaking when it was released.
I struggled most with the music. It did not match the storyline and seem to fit at all. It was hard to get past that for me.
Very cool though to see where our best picture movies started and how far they’ve come though!

Wings
Often considered to contain Hollywood’s “first gay kiss,” Wings does a much better job of addressing the love between these two men than I expected. I wasn’t counting on some torrid love affair between two male pilots during WWI, but we get a good sense of how much they care for each other and the lengths they’d go for one another long before we actually see it happen.

Wings
Best Picture Oscar winner 1929 (1st Academy Awards)
My Rating: 6/10
Won the inaugural best picture in 1929 and put the academy on the map. It’s a silent film and the flying sequence is the best part about the movie. It seems so real. I have much respect for this film.
