watched in film studies it was really good and helped me appreciate black and white films more

citizen kane, despite its acclaim, is an overrated film that falls flat in several critical areas. this movie is excruciatingly boring, it completely failed to engage anyone in the room for most of its runtime, even the biggest cinephiles. the is dense and difficult to follow, it left us feeling disconnected from the characters and plot. kinda just feels like that one guy who thinks he’s smarter than everyone but his levels of intelligence are well below average, y’know? but overall, the screenplay is poorly written, lacking the coherence and emotional depth that a film of its supposed caliber should possess. it’s a disappointing experience that doesn't live up to its legendary reputation. i can name so many films from this era that deserve the adoration this film has.

felt slow at some points but genuinely enjoyed watching kane’s story play out. can definitely see why it’s in such high regard

In my opinion one of the most overrated films in cinema history. I mean it’s well made and I know what it so regarded as one of the greats. Because it’s big impact on cinema but I still think there are better older films than this.
