would love if someone could explain why this movie exists what a boring plot i don't care about your old girlfriend why is this movie so popular it's a stupid black and white bullshit film

I enjoyed the plot, setting, and music in the film. I also liked the ending because it was not something that I was expecting when dealing with a character who was depicted as a neutral cynic. I liked the interesting theme about the difficulty of neutrality during war and in love

I understand it's a classic and it was one of the best of its time, but it's just not my style. Just bc it is 80 years old doesn't change the fact that its stale and boring.

Watching this when I’m much older and it felt like a completely different film. Loved it the first time for its romantic vintage quality and music. Love it now as a profound commentary of putting duty and principle first.
