The Man in My Basement

It's based on a book, and you can tell. The level of absurdity behind nearly every scene and metaphor... I can't tell if my interpretations are delusional, daft, or both. Don't watch this if you're expecting a surface-level story with explicit answers. As much as certain themes like identity, morality, race, culture, grief, and so on are picked up on, almost nothing is explicitly explained. I've not seen much of Hawkins, but I hope to see more of him, and Dafoe, as always, does it justice. The sound design and directing almost achieve 'horror', but I'd call it more thriller. All in all, it's alright but could've been better.
