Tetsuo: The Iron Man

“Your future is metal.”

That was certainly a movie. I don’t even know where to begin, or where to end, uhhh, it’s surreal in the best way, it’s very disturbing, like the opening scene genuinely gave me goosebumps cause I was so disgusted.

Two things i know are clear about Tetsuo: The Iron Man. First, its first act is a masterpiece in body horror but kinda drops off. Secondly, it’s really confusing, like I read up on this after and I’m still confused, like is it about technology taking over us or LGBTQ? Like cmon Tsukamoto, help me out here.

1st Act 9.8/10 (A masterpiece in all things horror, it’s chilling, it’s scary, it’s real, it’s horrific, it’s all you could ever want and more.)

2nd Act 8.9/10 (A drop off as the film gets more and more confusing and complicated as it progresses, ultimately leading to major confusion, however it does have some really standout moments.)

3rd Act 9.2/10 (I did find the third act boring and confusing, however the only boring part was the confrontation, I did personally really enjoy the TV scene and the Post-Apocalyptic scene, like they are in my highlights for the movie.)

Plot 9/10 (When people ask if I’ve seen iron man in gonna respond like I think they’re talking about this one.)

Soundtrack/Score 9.3/10 (Actually really surprised me, like some tracks are full of suspense and really good, while others were just earrape, AND YET IT WORKS.)

Acting 8.8/10 (The fear in Tomorô Taguchi eyes is pure gold.)

Pacing 8.8/10 (It’s too fast, never thought I’d say that, but it is.)

Cinematography 8.8/10 (A really good standout shot that’s wallpaper worthy.)

Character Development N/A (Not that kind of movie.)

Writing 8.7/10 (Barely any dialogue but there is some banger lines in here.)

Ending 8/10 (Confusing and weird, but I like up to interpretation.) (not a spoiler I might just be stupid.)

Direction 8.8/10 (It’s very unique and I liked it but it felt like the family guy meme “So many quick shots and close-ups, you can’t tell what’s going on.”)

Not really too sure what was going on but I mostly got it. Pretty lit if you ask me. I like the part where he dreams about his girlfriend pegging him with a giant metal snake lookin penis. We’ve all had that dream before.
