The Night of the Hunter

The film didn't have much tension as I'd hoped at first, but it did pick up in the second act. The heartwarming moments for these kids in the third act were great. When Rachel Cooper pulled out the shotgun, iconic right there.

The night of the Hunter is one of the greatest works of American Cinema to come out of the 1950s. It is beautifully written, and the shots are both stunning and chilling. The use of shadows especially, almost Caligarian in nature really brought everything together. 9/10

Not as much tension nowadays and some editing errors but a compelling narrative, has to be Ted Bundy’s inspiration. Loved the societal roles that come at play

this was pretty scary. that guy was terrifying. it was ahead of its time.

Stylistically unique, pure blooded tension and a charismatic yet chilling antagonist, this really was ahead of its time
