One of the most bold and creative films of the year. Shows how brutal motherhood can be. Amy Adams is phenomenal in this film

i feel like a lot of people that didn’t get this movie aren’t tired, burnt out stay at home moms. i am, and i felt very seen by this movie. the acting was great, and i personally liked that they didn’t give the characters names because it’s easier to see yourself in the role. the “turning into a dog” aspect that other people seemed not to like… i thought it was more symbolic, not literal. again, i think to get this movie you have to relate with it, and most viewers don’t i guess. i watched this with my husband and he definitely saw parallels between the storyline and our experience as new parents. overall, weird movie in the best way.

The dynamic of this movie didn’t let me finish it.

As a man with no kids it’s easy to argue I’m not the target audience for this movie. But I personally think that’s a cop out. The characterisation and plot were just weak, and if anything, it should’ve leant more into the weirdness. It left me wanting to care more than I did
