The Last Showgirl

Wanted to like it more than I did, but I still think it was good. Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis were amazing, the cinematography was gorgeous, and the score was amazing. But, it was just lacking in storytelling.

Story is a bit simplistic and some of the other acting in its the greatest. This is mostly a vehicle for Pamela Anderson to have the serious role she never really got though and it’s perfect for her.

Really wanted to like this but it just felt so shallow and underdeveloped. Some great performances, but otherwise terrible writing. The main character is pretty insufferable and the emotional payoff of the ending doesn’t work because it’s so unrealistic based on what the film previously established. The script just feels really unfinished and rushed.

I will say, there are some really amazing shots and the sets and costumes are fantastic. Also a couple great lines throughout. But it just doesn’t come together as a whole and there’s no real emotional connection with the main character.
