He finds out he’s fictional…the world’s gone insane and all that’s left is to eat popcorn and maniacally laugh at it all unfolding on screen. Brilliant and disturbingly relevant in 2025 when belief feels stronger than truth.

While the story is original and the practical effects still hold up today, I just didn’t love it. I can appreciate it for what it is, which is pure 90s horror, and if I had seen it sooner I might have a different opinion of it, but as of now, it’s simply fine.

Enjoyed this one very much. does have a mix of king, lovecraft kinda meshed together. Mostly anything Carpenter directs i enjoy but this didnt dissapoint. now dont go into this thinking its a monster movie cause its not. but they are in there lurking...waiting..for you. i can see

decent at best, but the concept could’ve been great. not Sam Neil’s best performance, his accent falters throughout the film. heavy handed references. enjoyed the ending tho. 4/10

I like how Carpenter does stuff and this premise is intriguing. But ultimately, just outside of my wheelhouse. I enjoyed Neill in the lead.

I saw this in the theater and it creeped me out! The vibe is : Videodrome/Hellraiser/Jacobs Ladder/ Evil Dead. You know, dreamlike weird & campy. and Sam Neil 🙌🏼 He will 4ever be remembered for this and Event Horizon.

Not as amazing as word of mouth led me to believe, but a great watch regardless. Lovecraftian small town psych thriller with Carpenter leaning into some Lynchian vibes. Alan Wake fans will feel right at home.
