I want to give this a higher rating, but I think the ending hurt it more than helped it.

7/10

Such mixed feelings. As a remake, it is a better film than the original. And so well acted. No fault to the performers. But completely tone deaf to the current era. And perhaps dangerous, since the radical redneck becomes the hero. Frightening for the wrong reasons.

Yorgos’ most accessible film to date because it’s not written by him (more grounded and overtly funny); a sharp satire on topical issues of class relations and political extremists. Excellent performances from everyone, even the unknown guy Aiden Delbis.

Where have all the flowers gone...

i’m a sucker for yorgos

Such an interesting, complex film with so many elements that make it shine. That plot is the definition of unexpected, and I really liked the complex style. The ending was a little bizarre, but I think it mainly just cemented the absurdity of it all for me. I liked it. 🐝
