Considerably better on a rewatch not having to follow the story and just living in recife alongside armando and the community he found himself in. Appreciate the music even more. Lightbox!

A film that makes me (like “I’m still here”) reminisce of a time that I never lived. And what’s so interesting about that is that the awful events happen in that time and the happy/closure events happen in present day.

The difference in color between present and past is insane, the past, vibrant, colorful and exciting. The present, muted, clinical and boring. That is genius.

The story is exceptional, and a film that is 160 minute long and makes it feel like a 90 minute film, that’s genius in pacing.

Performance wise, Wagner Moura is making me question my Oscar top pick, I’ll leave it to that

2:40 hours of film about a lot of nothing. I really liked the editing and the photography but the rest of the movie… At first I was enjoying it, but because it's so long it feels redundant and boring. In fact, I didn't even finish it, I was 40 minutes short.

It was an engaing watch but i recommend reading about political situation in Brasil in the seventies before watching to fully understand it
