Definitely not finishing this. I can see why people like it though, especially sci-fi fans. The visuals and sound effects surprised me, and the design was brilliant. I got halfway through season one and lost all interest because of how convoluted and ram-packed it is with stories. It's like a densely political version of Star Wars without the dressing up. Too many characters, too many names, too many places, too many concepts. I kept forgetting and missing small but important scenes. Casting was growing on me but I had no idea who or what was going on.

-Season 1

The Expanse is a sci fi show which revolves around a future where Earth, Mars & and ship called the Belt are their own colonies.

The show follows multiple characters, a detective, a crew sent out to look into a distress signal & other plots among them, but they all lead to finding a missing girl who is the key to catastrophe events happening.

This season is a slow burn to build up what is to come but it does a good job with keeping you engaged with cliff hangers and just the world itself. It’s like if Mass effect was made into a show ( which it is actually going to be) but without any Aliens and only humans.

Overall the show and its world are the things keeping me interested, the characters are okay but at a lot of points feel pretty hollow which I hope changes as the seasons go by. Amos & Miller are probably the ones to watch for alone although Amos isn’t what I expected him to be. [6.5/10]

-Season 2

A huge step up from Season 1 so many amazing episodes, especially the Miller focused episode with him going through a torn up Eros.

Even the episodes after that one still kept the tensions high, lots of action, lots of consequences and lots to keep you watching.

This season was something else and I cannot wait for more.

-Season 3

Overall a good season but kind of disappointing what the orb turned out to be, I thought maybe Julie or Miller survived the explosion on Venus and neither of them did, an orb ship was created and it formed a ring which was essentially a portal to different galaxies.

I also dislike the fact they made the thing that talks to Holden only he can see to be Miller, kind of ruins the whole vibe that the episode where Miller died had since he doesn’t even make sense now and it isn’t really miller.

Also a weird time jump happens in the middle of this season which can confuse the average watcher, like a 6 month time jump after the war between Mars & Earth ends which I heavily dislike and felt like a cheap out to go to the next arc faster.

Aside from those minor issues I felt like Naomi leaving was also pointless because it’s basically for only a few episodes and then she’s back on the ship with everyone again. I feel like this show needed at least 20 episodes per season to really flesh out what was going on, especially this season.

-Season 4

Wow.. what a huge step down from season 2 & 3, after being cancelled by SYFY and being picked up by Amazon you would’ve expected more jam packed seasons but this one slows the roll down severely….

This whole season takes place on one planet in the new “connected galaxies” and follows the main cast and a bunch of Belter & UN people who fight among each other, every single side character this season is insufferably annoying and doing so many stupid things, you literally can’t root for either side because they are both terrible groups of people aside from the main cast.

As I said they really draw out this season one that one planet and being stuck there, the only good episodes being the last two, if you can even really call them “good”

We barely learn anything new and nothing else is really discovered aside from giant buildings made of weird metal that “In Holden’s Head” Miller can only access and open.

I really hope the next season is better because I was really let down with this one after two consistent amazing seasons one after another on SYFY.

-Season 5

I will never agree with killing a main character we spent almost 5 seasons with randomly without remorse. No reaction by the team and it’s so out of pocket and random that I did not see it coming. The character is alive in the books to this day but the show decided to “take risks” and kill the character off. I don’t agree, I think if anyone should’ve kicked the bucket it should’ve been Naomi.

I know why the character was killed off and I know the controversy regarding the actor who played the character, only after searching up his death online, I understand him being fired for being a total piece of garbage but a similar recast could’ve happened. They did it before with Aversala’s husband, they could’ve done it here just to finish the show with the whole crew.

The finale episode is one of the worst finales to a show I’ve ever seen, this whole season was a waste of time just like the last, Amazon picking this show up didn’t help at all and these two seasons show they do not know how to adapt things correctly.

I don’t have my hopes high for the finale season especially after what happens here. Just overall disappointing.

-Season 6

This season of expanse is cut very short, 6 episodes and a lot of stuff is cut that we would normally see and it shows hard…

Alex not being with the crew is a very big change I could not wrap my head around, Naomi was annoying for most of this season, so was Holden, Amos seemed to be the only reasonable person on the crew until the very last episode.

This season leaves the show open for more if it ever were to happen but it’s a very big doubt from me. My interest was lost when they decided to kill a main crew member that’s been with us for 5 season.

Also I think Naomi is one of the worst characters on this show, she always thinks her actions are justified even though she messes up a lot, especially in season 5. I would’ve been okay with her getting killed off over Alex.

Anyhow, this season was mostly filler garbage and had us watch new characters on a planet we will never see unless it’s renewed and another side story that doesn’t get patched up, plus alot of plot holes like the last of the protomolecule, etc. just super underwhelming…

-IN CONCLUSION

Going to keep this short and sweet. Watch SEASONS 1-3 ONLY. Because it is just super underwhelming with what’s set up at the end of season 3 and what actually happens for another 3 seasons, I’ve never seen a show take this much of a step down in overall quality in my time watching shows. I know this follows a book series but if I read the first 3 books and I got another 3 books and that was what I had to sit through reading I would feel I wasted my time even more. However there are more books made after the show got cancelled again, and I would hope they would be adapted because I hear things get crazy…. Anyhow who knows, I don’t. Again save your time and only watch the first 3 seasons. [5/10 For The Series]

This show put me to sleep every night — maybe the only reason we kept watching. The story was told horribly, the dialogues made it hard to connect, and so many plotlines were left hanging. Easily one of the shows I’ve watched that I’d recommend the least. 😅🤣🥲
