Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre Reviews

I don’t like it…I don’t dislike it…I hate it…I hate the fact that I love it. It’s so morbid to me but I just can’t stop myself from wanting to watch it more! I’ve always had a fascination with Japanese stories like this and I don’t think that’s something that will stop. Not ever.

The lows are SO low. But it has some excellent episodes that unfortunately end horribly

I love junji ito & the stories are all great but the balloon episode is the only off-putting one in this imo, the rest of the stories don’t hit the same as they do in his books. his style & atmosphere are just really difficult to properly duplicate in animation I think

Not as good as junji ito collection on crunchyroll but that only got one season so ill take what i can get.

more good episodes than bad, but its not rlly my favorite show. my favorite episode was Hanging Balloon🎈. some of the episodes had really boring stories, but only a couple. i probably wouldn’t rewatch this, but i’d still recommend watching it.

I liked the stories “long hair in the attic” , “tomb town” , “layers of terror” (fav out of all of them), “tomie:photo”, and the bully. The last story was kinda ridiculous compared to how gory the others were

I absolutely loved junji itos stories and now this?! It’s a masterpiece, even loving the way each scene correlates differently, especially in color, the vibes was most definitely there. Recommend to anyone that likes Junji Ito’s works or suspense/thriller. 👏🏽

It’s a love just for Junji ito I’ve read almost every thing from him,but Netflix ruined everything so the series is not that good… they could’ve chose better stories that were more creepier and a better animation because it really sucks. Junji Ito is the best mangaka for me.

pretty good, some hit some didn’t

Some stories are quite stupid, some are genuinely creepy but overall every story was executed extremely well especially visually.

I really enjoyed this. some of 5hese stories are amazing. some confused me but still worth the watch.

Shits crazy, there’s a couple episodes that aren’t as good as the rest but other than that it’s pretty good
