I expected a holiday cash-in, but the deep existential crisis of the Battlesaurs totally won me over.

What Worked:
Purcell’s gladiator arena framing gives the set an epic, tactile weight. Through my Methodist faith lens, Trixie helping Reptillus find his true purpose beautifully reminds me that grace means showing others they’re loved for a bigger purpose. Giacchino’s score also perfectly blends 80s action with emotional beats to elevate the whole special.

The Cuts:
The first act really dragged for me; the video game station setup totally stalls the momentum. Keeping it spoiler-free, the Cleric is a one-dimensional boss, leaving the stakes feeling half-baked. Plus, cramming in so many new figures meant Woody and Buzz got sidelined and didn’t get enough time to breathe.

Verdict:
A heartwarming adventure finally letting Trixie shine. Perfect for a cozy binge, but skip if you need a deep, feature-length narrative.
