Wes Anderson is competing with Wes Anderson to out Wes-Anderson Wes Anderson. This short was definition storybook. Amazing acting, incredible writing. I wonder how creative Wes Anderson can get before losing his charm in complex storytelling. Every second was utilized perfectly.

Watched for Wes Anderson, stayed for Dev Patel (my beloved). Wes Anderson definitely tried to out Wes Anderson himself, but I think what really kept my attention was the almost entirely unbroken eye contact; made me feel like I had to keep watching - or else.

my primary school teacher read this to us in year 6. the nostalgia i felt when i watched this omg🥲 also benedict was so perfect for this role???

8.5 - Wes Anderson in his element. The unbroken narrative writing & nearly unbroken 4th wall interaction, the constant motion & recycling of sets & cast; completely unique & I don’t see it working as well with any other director’s style or vision. Just 40 mins of whimsy & smiles.

i just watched this bc of dev patel but i can barely read the subtitles wtf with this story

i love the idea of the third person narrator, it feels more personable to the audience as if they were truly telling this story to us. And with that, it doesn’t leave much room for predictably

Wish wes anderson chose a different way to tell yhe story than reading it to the audience like a book but other than that it was good

Way too much talking. There’s no time to process it all. The pacing of recent wes anderson films has been rough.

Fun interesting story. Enjoyed the ending as well. I like the way the story is narrated.

Someone described it as a visual audiobook which is apt. Entirely enjoyable and this length suits Anderson much better than feature length.
