Nick cage is peak. Never a bad time

Dr. Doom vs. The 'Golden' Surfer. I watchlist every Nic Cage film, not just for the performance but for the guaranteed originality, and not only in the story but in the filming too. Techniques on techniques, from spiralling, dreamlike cinematography to nightmarishly phantasmagoric editing, all topping off an extremely emotionally infuriating story. The longer it went on, the more convoluted and impatient I got, which is the only reason I'm not rating it higher. A nightmare fuelled by visual and metaphorical allegories on belonging, exploitation, exploration, traumas, value, time, masculinity, society, loss, healing, and a whole lot more.

nice visuals and the lighting was great, but the plot was just a mess, lots of jumping around and an unreliable narrator so i just didn’t really enjoy how it didn’t give much context for anything by the end

Very bizarre and weird movie but for the most part I enjoyed it. Nicolas Cage is wild in it and the story was insane. Worth a watch

What a trippy movie. It’s a fever dream that plays with your mind. Add nick cage in it and it’s even weirder. But hey it makes you think. A recursive wave, crashing over and over again on the beach. I really liked it. But expect it to be weird.
