7.6 - A “friendly” competition turning into a deeply moving moment of shared effervescence. This is pretty profound in its simplicity.

Incredibly shot and even more well acted; I’d give a lot to be sitting in the back of this bar on this night.

My biggest complaint is that I needed more. As impressive as the depth of these characters was in 18 minutes, some of them I still knew too little.

Beautiful in a way i cannot articulate

A bunch of drunk people who can seriously sing, so fun to watch.

A potentially dull example of oneupsmanship instead turned into a beautiful story of camaraderie and brotherhood through the power of music. I really hope this gets adapted into a feature length film one day.

Kinda surprised we didn’t get Piano Man though.

18 min of loveliness

short but incredibly impactful. stellar performances by everyone involved, and shot stunningly. oscar winner for a reason !!!

A pretty fun little short. It’s very simple and doesn’t strive for much, but it’s also charming and likable for what it is.

I liked the idea of vulnerability through music but the execution really wasn’t there. The story was slow and fast at the same time, it felt off at times. The singing and the acting was really good though. It’s a quick watch but I didn’t feel like I gained anything.

The short film has such a great atmosphere in terms of both the setting and characters. You can instantly feel the bond and relationships of these men as they discuss who can sing the best which of course turns into a competition and by the end they share an emotional embrace and an appreciation for each other… Until that last guy.

The people that sing in this are fantastic! This is a short and it was nominated for an Oscar so you should check it out!

A bunch of randoms at a bar become vulnerable, singing a song, their song. It starts like a competition for some money and beer, and ends up in a beautiful moment where everyone tells their story with music.

omg. this is so lovely!! i’m so glad netflix put this on my feed. cinematically and emotionally beautiful. every character, even in these short 17 minutes, feels like an old friend. stumbling upon this was true providence, i think.

Short, subtle, and powerful. I love the Oscar nominated shorts for a reason…this is the front runner, in my opinion (2026).
