One of my favorite Robert De Niro movies! This film also inspired Todd Phillips Joker from 2019. (So if you liked this definitely go check that out!)

Crazy how this is probably a true story with several people out there.

“But as it turned out, I was wrong. That was the only attention my father ever gave me.”

Very cool plot that shows how people can be obsessed with celebrities. Seems even more likely to be a story today. Great performance from De Niro. Scorsese with another banger.

the inspiration for worse films such as joker is clear; conceptually, this is a brilliant film, even if i would’ve preferred it had gone a bit farther in execution. de niro is brilliant as always, as is the schizo-chaotic and nerve wracking visual language

If I didn’t know any better, Robert De Niro is a great comedian.

I’m not a fan. The script is weak and deniro isn’t convincing as a comic. However, I love Jerry lewis and consider this movie slightly enjoyable because of him

feels like you are in his head watching how unexpected it goes

everything about this movie is so funny and well thought out and you just feel so bad for the main character even tho he’s delusional. it’s inside the head of someone so desperate for fame he creates his own reality

It's not my favorite from Scorsese, and I can see all the influence this has had on Joker. I always find it weird seeing De Niro in these roles because I'm so used to mob movie characters.

A brilliant commentary on celebrity worship-culture, The King of Comedy is one of Scorsese’s finest and most overlooked films. Deniro and Bernhardt’s performances were excellent and the writing was hilarious yet thoughtful. This is a must see for all Scorsese fans. 8.5/10

Great work by Martin Scorsese. Also great preference by Robert De Niro. Overall interesting story and very nice camera work.

Um filme que serviu de base para o Coringa do Todd Phillips, o De Niro e a Sandra Bernhard estão excelentes!... Os percalços da fama, a busca pela glória a qualquer custo, o fanatismo cego, a sociedade doente e várias outras camadas. Excelente filme, nota 9.

Is he supposed to be the joker?

It’s an objectively good movie, but personally wasn’t the biggest fan. First hour was too slow.

Great performances by De Niro and Bernhard. Liked his final act and how it was actually solid. Really changes the tone of the movie. Overall too predictable for modern audiences imo.
