The King of Comedy

One of my favorite Robert De Niro movies! This film also inspired Todd Phillips Joker from 2019. (So if you liked this definitely go check that out!)

Crazy how this is probably a true story with several people out there.

“better to be a king for a night than a scrub for a lifetime” maladaptive day dreaming personified. love how de niro’s first wife was the female lead. the ending is “hope core” in a strange way. delusional optimism works out at the rignt place and time.

Proof that being a persistently delusional fool does bring you success!

I liked the attempt De Niro made in this and I love that years later he played the opposite type of character in the Joker but overall it was only okay imho
