The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
It is what it says it is, a Hobbits journey, although kind of expected. For the most part, I saw a replica of what we've already seen from the LotR trilogy, just with some well-needed explaining and expanding on lore. I love the dedication to continuity. The same people, the same mythology, but with constant brand new introductions. LotR definitely has some questionable decisions in development, so far it seems a lot better but I'm getting slightly tired of the repetition and I hope they sort out the score, it's overbearing and deafening. A few scenes seriously locked me back in though. Also, I know this doesn't really affect the quality but how has there not been a single person of colour in the entire franchise? Either way, I can't wait for more Smaug. Anticipation on overload.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
The dwarves singing Over the Misty Mountains carried the entire film, that probably gives you an idea about it. It was so boring and lengthy, the first 40 minutes Bilbo and the company still havenβt left Bag-End. Finish was good tho, with Thorin finally appreciating Bilbo.

So I started watching RIGHT AFTER I finished the LOTR trilogy, and personally I love how it started, right off the bat seeing Frodo was just so heartwarming in a sense, and seeing old a new characters was nice.
So in a way it's like a nostalgia trip with new characters, love it

I enjoyed this movie but I think that LOTR: TFOTR was a better start to a trilogy than this movie. Martin Freeman played Bilbo Baggins fantastically and I liked seeing how Bilbo got Sting π‘ and the ring. Also, the interaction between Bilbo and Gollum was one of my favorite parts

I donβt care what anyone says, making the hobbit a trilogy wasnβt a bad idea, I think the ending of this part was my favourite because of Thorin realizing Bilbo is a huge help and actually acknowledging it, it was just a put well movie under a strict time limit
And I just love seeing more of Middle Earth, I can never get enough, and the music, you need to watch these films, they are just fascinating.

Banger. Hate that Beorn guy though. Freaks me out and makes me uncomfortable. Gotta love the hot dwarves.

The high frame rate negatively impacts the rest of the experience of this movie to the point where I find it unwatchable

I really wanted to love this more than I did. Going back to Middleearth was amazing, but stretching The Hobbit into three movies made it feel way more bloated than it needed to be.
