The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

It is what it says it is, a Hobbits journey, although kind of expected. For the most part, I saw a replica of what we've already seen from the LotR trilogy, just with some well-needed explaining and expanding on lore. I love the dedication to continuity. The same people, the same mythology, but with constant brand new introductions. LotR definitely has some questionable decisions in development, so far it seems a lot better but I'm getting slightly tired of the repetition and I hope they sort out the score, it's overbearing and deafening. A few scenes seriously locked me back in though. Also, I know this doesn't really affect the quality but how has there not been a single person of colour in the entire franchise? Either way, I can't wait for more Smaug. Anticipation on overload.

The dwarves singing Over the Misty Mountains carried the entire film, that probably gives you an idea about it. It was so boring and lengthy, the first 40 minutes Bilbo and the company still haven’t left Bag-End. Finish was good tho, with Thorin finally appreciating Bilbo.

i definitely liked it more than lotr because it’s more lightweight and funnier but if you didn’t like lotr you shouldn’t expect to love this. very excited to read the book tho

The Hobbit is pure adventure. A lighter tale than The Lord of the Rings, yet rich with charm, courage, and wonder. It may not have the same weight as its successor, but its warmth and spirit make it unforgettable. A story already told, yet never old.

This was a pretty good movie, first hour was pretty boring just rebelling, the rest was relaxing entertaining, it was mostly setup I think though. Nothing crazy important happened but for what is to come
