Isao Takahata absolutely cooked with this movie this rly is the most grounded Ghibli film and just feels so raw and authentic. The family drama moments just feel so real. I love when ghibli does realistic movies cause they stand out so much in the best way

Okay listen, the movie was good and all but the main characters grown up design just freaked me out. It made me so uncomfortable to watch and sometimes I got kinda pissed cause she wouldn't stop talking about herself. Love the young version of her and her childhood flashbacks tho

after watching Ocean waves a while ago, this is a huge improvement. very similar to the story, but from the POV of a female and definitely does it better in my opinion.

ahhhh such a nostalgic and well made movie! the animation is just so so so beautiful, the contrast between watercolor 2d to the more modern characters is genius. such a cute story too. definitely one of my favorite ghibli films.

I actually rlly liked this one. A slower paced, more grounded Studio Ghibli movie but had a decent story about your past and learning about yourself years later.

great movie about revisiting your past and the struggles of embracing it, i watched it at a time when i was facing a lot of my own struggles i haven’t fully reconciled with. this movie came at the best time for me ❤️ and done in such a beautifully nostalgic and gentle way

This was a very difficult movie to watch, yet also an extremely powerful one at that

It’s amazing. Reminiscing of childhood, it captures that sweet nostalgia. I cried a bit when i first watched it. The storytelling is out of this world, it brings the sun and rain right into the room you are in. Definitely a strong recommend.

Such a comfortable film while also tackling/showing serious issues. Animation style was cool and mixed with the setting gives such a familiar tone. Characters are cool, the dads a prick, taeko is a cool character in both pints in time, it was fun to watch, not really else much to say.

5/10 This was a cozy and slow film and animated beautifully. Although it just did not flow together in my opinion. Her flashbacks to her younger self and her current self did not really connect and it felt a bit random at times. Wish we could’ve seen more character development of her adult self.
