Isao Takahata absolutely cooked with this movie this rly is the most grounded Ghibli film and just feels so raw and authentic. The family drama moments just feel so real. I love when ghibli does realistic movies cause they stand out so much in the best way

Okay listen, the movie was good and all but the main characters grown up design just freaked me out. It made me so uncomfortable to watch and sometimes I got kinda pissed cause she wouldn't stop talking about herself. Love the young version of her and her childhood flashbacks tho

after watching Ocean waves a while ago, this is a huge improvement. very similar to the story, but from the POV of a female and definitely does it better in my opinion.

Ce genre de film est tellement inspirant, on a envie de se retrouver en plein nature et de profiter pleinement de la vie. J'ai été saisie par les souvenirs de ce personnage, il y avait un mélange d'émotions tres forte. Et la fin est juste splendide est tellement émouvante.

love the old time style of animation, very vibrant and charming. i prefer the more grounded real life plot studio ghibli movies over the fantastical ones they normally do
