Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms
Rated: 6.9/10 ⭐️
I hoped for a solid follow-up, but the chaotic, overstuffed plot left me overwhelmed.
What Worked:
Studio Mir’s animation gives the visceral choreography a raw, tactile weight. Through my Methodist faith lens, Raiden relinquishing his immortality reminds me that true leadership means stepping down to share the struggles of the vulnerable. Ehrenreich’s editing and the heavy score also give the combat a super dynamic flow.
The Cuts:
Cramming three massive plots into 80 minutes makes the flow super choppy. Because they speed-run the roster, emotional beats feel rushed and the stakes feel half-baked. Keeping it spoiler-free, the climax escalates too fast; jumping from a grounded tournament to a cosmic kaiju battle makes the vibe inconsistent to me.
Verdict:
An overstuffed sequel. Okay for fans wanting crazy lore and bloody fights, but skip if you need a seamlessly paced story.
Line: “I relinquish my immortality.”
