Through my Faith Methodism lens, Johnny stepping out of his ego to help Ashrah reminds me we’re called to look past selfish ambitions to protect the vulnerable. The synth-heavy score and Gottfried’s hilarious final performance also give the comedic beats a super dynamic flow.

The middle really dragged for me; the secret Hollywood cult mystery stalls the momentum. Keeping it spoiler-free, leaning hard into goofy 80s comedy makes the villain’s plan and the overarching stakes feel half-baked. Plus, the jarring tonal shift between bloody MK fatalities and lighthearted Christmas jokes makes the overall vibe feel pretty inconsistent as well.
