Definitely not devoid of quality since the acting and other elements are pretty great, but it still feels so lifeless. The story’s theme feels lost in the writing, which leads to a huge disconnect in the emotional core. I couldn’t care about these characters the way I needed to.

6.5 - I knew nothing of LB going in & feel I still don’t. It feels very surface. Hollow. Every statement is a wink & nudge & not fully realized. Feels like huge chunks of the story are left out. It’s technically fantastic - acting, visuals, flow. It’s just hard to really care.

yea this is my favorite movie of 2023 so far. My brother and i watched it together and agreed:
-this solidified Bradley Cooper as one of the greatest actors of his generation
-Carey Mulligan deserves best supporting actress
-cinematography and lighting was the best
-much more
