One of the best George Clooney performances. This, Michael Clayton, and Oceans 11. My god Adam Sandler was incredible!

Mediocre Oscar bait, but I didn't hate it. I think what I loved most about this was the biopic feel it had, centring on Clooney. A successful, handsome movie star, played by a successful, handsome movie star, but it's the relatability that really makes it believable. Aside from being privileged and rich, of course, the issues surrounding life, death, family, and suffering tickled my emotions just enough.

I’m sure most people won’t love it, but I enjoyed it. Would’ve loved more Billy crudup though

A depressing film about a Hollywood narcissist. There’s nothing exciting, moving or memorable. Cannot believe this film expects me to sympathize with wealthy, powerful men & their problems.Adam Sandler is the only real character that was worth watching as an actor. Save your time.

Great performances by Clooney and Sandler with amazing life lessons. Could’ve had a better ending though.

As a film, theatre, and arts major, this movie strikes me in the heart. Wish there was a little more motion in this movie, but because it is so slice of life it doesn’t need it.

Good character driven movie carried by the two leads amazing performances. Overall it was interesting that the plot was about an actor reflecting over his career.

It’s beautifully shot, staged like a play going through time and space elegantly. The final line delivery was done perfectly.
I’m not surprised people didn’t like it and sees it as a self pitying piece. The film even jokes about it when they realized they’re giving tribute awards to two white men lmao. However I actually find this film very endearing. It treated it’s subject with respect without avoiding the nuanced and complicated nature of all of this. Jay Kelly didn’t walk away with a happy ending. People are passing by. Time is passing by. His daughters are healing and going for their own lives without this mess of an awful dad. He’s questioning if all of this is worth it. All of this are presented in this film and I feel like people are missing out if you only see the most surface level of “oh this is just another film about a white dude with midlife crisis.”
This film reminded me of Blue Moon, which is also about the only person standing still, not moving at all, having had their days of glory, and couldn’t do anything as time passes through them. That sense of the entire world fleeting is horrifyingly universal, and this film, Jay Kelly, presents it perfectly.

I loved this movie. I did not expect to love it and was pleasantly surprised by it. I love the themes that covers about growing old and wondering if you mattered to the world and that relationships are important. It’s a really great watch.

Jay Kelly didn’t fully convert me into a Noah Baumbach fan, but it’s easily the most enjoyable of his films. Adam Sandler and George Clooney both deliver strong, grounded performances that carry it.
