“Anybody can be famous, but it takes a real spirit to raise a kid.”
Man fuck, this shit hit like 14 trucks, which is about one every 10 minutes. It’s so devastating what happened and it’s even more devastating who it happened to. Jeff was an incredible human being, he deserved a happy ending.
Another banger of a documentary, fucking loving them and hating them at the same time, I loved the animated parts, and the ending voicemail to his mother had me on the verge of crying man.

as a fan this is worth a watch but idk how factual it is. at least i think there might be some omitting present. focused a bit too much on his relationships imo. it also felt a bit low budget when they used those stock-image-like shots whenever they were missing visual material.

I absolutely adore Jeff Buckley he is one of my favorite figures of history and music, and all of the footage of him in this documentary is so lovely. However, this documentary doesn’t really tell the correct story, and heavily focuses on his relationships with past girlfriends, which doesn’t paint a correct picture to his very ambivalent gender and sexuality. They also frame this narrative as if he only released one album, but he literally recorded his second completed album, before he decided to scrap it and move to Memphis to start over. The way it ends with his mom listening to his voicemail is very placed, I really recommend all of you actually research this woman before you feel all heartfelt for her, there are a shit ton of issues there and he wouldn’t move all the way across the country if there wasn’t a lot of issues within his childhood. They realllly glossed over the reason why he stopped talking to her, to the point where I can’t even find the exact reason online. When will someone make a good documentary or film about this absolutely astounding individual??
