Robin Williams ad-libbed every single broadcast scene. Watching him do what he did best is magic and it is a great comfort that his comedy will live on forever

From the start, the film blows you over with excitement and for those who can latch on, it’s a nonstop ride. Offering only hackneyed insights into the war, the film makes for stodgy drama. But Willams’ magic monologues behind the mike are worth anybody’s money.

This movie was made for Robin Williams and is almost like a biopic of his life in a way.

I had read very positive comments that this was the best film of Robin Williams, but when I saw it, it felt a bit boring to me. This story is set in the Vietnam War and radio. We can observe that in that era everything was censorship, there was no transparency in giving the news, the government practically decided which news to comment on air and which ones not to.

Adrian Cronauer (Williams), a very famous announcer, arrives at the radio in Vietnam, he with his great sense of humor (some jokes were not funny to me) delights the ears of the listeners because of his peculiar way of giving the news and imitating personalities. Sometimes Williams' role in his way of acting did seem a bit exaggerated to me. It also shows the terrible conditions in which the Vietnamese lived, the terrorist groups, and how the American soldiers were racist toward them.

Pretty good movie overall. I personally thought it was a little slow until halfway through. The ending was good but could’ve been better. I will say Robin Williams was made for this role he crushed it. Altogether it’s a 6/10

After a quite frankly painful first hour, it explodes into high gear. Wouldn’t have worked at all without robin williams, so it makes complete sense that it was written with him in mind. The real cronauer is actually and unfortunately a hawk
