Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
8.7 - Truly feels like an extension or true part 1 to Fury Road. Furiosa is the right character to delve into, and Anya Taylor-Joy does the character justice. It provided a lot more of the world context I was looking for from Fury Road , & I honestly enjoyed the story much more. Pretty much everything else is on par. A great summer action blockbuster, meant for big & loud screens.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
Visually this looked great, and has some really good action sequences.
I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning, and found myself wanting to know more about where Furiosa came from, her mother, and the community they were part of. I did feel like there was very little character development, which ultimately left the story lacking. I wanted to feel more for the dynamics in the film but was unable to due to the lack of character/story development. While I appreciate what they were trying to do with Hemsworth’s character, it seemed like they relied too much on humor which stripped the character of any real depth. Joy looked great, and I think played her part very well, however I wish we had more time with her because it felt like we didn’t get more “personality” from her until the very end. I think due to all the moving parts and characters, this would have translated a lot better as a limited series. This way we could have explored the world, characters, and story more deeply. Ultimately, not a horrible film but definitely could’ve given us more.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
Visually awesome and action packed. Storyline definitely wasn’t as good as fury road but it’s a good prequel. Chris Hemsworth was a funny villain but towards the end felt like the movie was being dragged. It was good don’t get me wrong, but not the “movie of the summer” 7.0/10

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
It honestly kills me that we haven’t had this and like 2 or 3 sequels to Mad Max: Fury Road by now. Both of these films are some of the most innovative and exciting action movies this century.
I don’t even know how they pulled off some of the shots here; it’s a prime example of a perfect blend between practical action and CGI. Unlike the relentless non-stop action and pacing of Fury Road, this is much more narratively focused - a grand odyssey across the wasteland spanning over a decade. The world feels rich and weirdly "lived-in" despite all the death and loss within it, the characters are loud, memorable, and overall the film adds an impressive layer of depth to the lore established in the original trilogy and Fury Road.
Anya Taylor-Joy is fantastic, nice back-to-back watch for me with this and The Witch. Her performance pairs wonderfully with Alyla Browne as her younger counterpart. Hemsworth plays a very flashy villain, getting a lot of opportunity to show off, but it’s Tom Burke, who in now all three of my watches stands out as this more lowkey, caring guy who’s forced to put on this hardened facade.
Can’t believe this flopped at the box office, I’ll never forgive general audiences for not going out to see this. Then again it was nearly a decade since the last one, maybe too long was spent. Fingers crossed we get a sequel of some sorts one day.
