Dog Day Afternoon
If Al Pacino robbed a bank to pay for my sex change operation I would be going with him to Algeria 100%. This movie was so fucking funny. As soon as the scene where Sonny is jumping up and down to paint over the camera played I knew it was gonna be a banger. I really loved the dialogue and specifically the moments where characters were unfittingly polite to each other for what the situation was if that makes sense. I just find that kind of writing comedy gold, and sort of Wes Anderson esc. I was very charmed by Sonny personally and I knew it wasn’t gonna work out, cause like why tf would the cops let that happen they are literally cops, but I really wanted him and Sal to get away with it. At least Leon got to transition and apparently the irl Sonny made a shit ton of money selling the rights to his story so that’s a win.

Dog Day Afternoon
An exceptional film that shows the true talent of the amazing Al Pacino even at the early stage of his career.
Bank robbery films really don’t get much better. I absolutely love the fact that the majority of this film takes place in the bank, it creates a great atmosphere.

al pacino being too short to paint the camera and having to stand on a chair healed me we love a short king he was at his best in the 70s, dog day afternoon is a masterpiece i’m so glad I’ve watched it “when i’m being fucked i like to get kissed”

Such a great and exciting movie. Al’s best performance, and Cazale was great in it, same way he was great in every other movie he appeared in. Shame he didn’t have a longer career, he was the highlight of the Godfather, Deer hunter, and this.
Worth a watch, great suspense

”the guy who kills me, I hope he does it because he hates my guts, not because it's his job”
i enjoyed how this mostly took place in the bank; made you feel stuck with them. surprised that ”comedy” wasn’t one of the genres listed. this is as good as a bank robbery movie gets imo.

Action filled movie with Al Pacino. Quite funny as well and it holds up pretty well. They did a good job making this slow paced movie interesting and fun to watch.

finally saw this one. this is 100% my favorite Al Pacino role so far. I’ve only seen 7 of his movies so far but with 2 of them being Godfather Pt2 and Heat, I think that is still important to say. I just love it. he just stood out so much compared to what was actually going on. his accent and his energy and his look and his movements.
it’s not ‘favorite movie of all time’ material for me. but it could’ve been if certain things were different.
the end was a bit lackluster to me (but so was the departed’s ending, so don’t take my word for it) and small things like that. I couldn’t say much negative with how much I liked the back and forth between Pacino and anyone else he was talking to throughout though.

Dog Day Afternoon
an all-time classic and one of the great heist films, the screenplay is just about perfect and al pacino delivers an absolutely terrific performance, one of his very best. the editing, cinematography, and supporting cast are stellar; sonny’s motive and desperation deeply moved me
