what a powerful & beautiful film. it transmits growing up in the 00’s so well. the diversity of friend groups, and trying to be someone you aren’t. it’s really well written, although i did want more, was not expecting the ending at all. the cinematography is phenomenal, the cast, the editing, the sound design, & god i loved didi’s mom so much. i’m gonna txt my mom i love her rn bc of it. it’s a bitter sweet film, but it’s definitely a must watch. 8.5 / 10

a masterpiece, not only was a very realistic emotional story. it was also hilarious, it balance comedy with drama perfectly. the aspects of adolescence such as the texting and awkwardness were done great. the whole movie was a roller coaster of me praying for Chris's happiness.

Super cute movie. I cried I laughed! Good time. Could have ended more conclusively but that’s life and I liked the length

This is a tough watch. 13 year old kids are so awful. It’s hard to root for Didi when he’s so unlikable at the start. But guess most of us are when we are trying to find ourselves and grow through this awkward years. It’s realistic and cringy and powerful, but still, tough to watch.

An extremely difficult watch, due to the intense amount of cringe from adolescent insecurity and probably because I relate on some suppressed level. It’s almost insufferable to watch what amounts to the most insecure boy desperately trying to fit in with the antics he goes…

This movie was very relatable. Growing up and having to deal with new rules that everyone else seemed to learn except for you and then everything you do to catch up ends up being wrong. But that idea of identity was really interesting. With each group of friends we see a different dream. For example when he really got into filming and cinematography when his skater friends asked. But for that dream to get crushed when his friends dump him again. And that becomes a pattern, he's being led by people's approval which is basically when kids fight growing up. And then seeing in detail why that idea of people's approval becomes so important too. This movie is also hella awkward but that's welcome too being that 14 is the weirdest age to be 😭

this reminds me a lot of my adolescent time, it’s so realistic the way this movie portrays friendships, family issues, crushes and all that you lived when you are a teenager, very powerful dialogue and a bittersweet ending

I just couldn’t get into this movie. It was slow for me and felt like stupid humor at times.

Realistic, simple, emotional and cinematically pleasing.
Not for everyone, as not everyone can relate to the MC’s life and struggles.
I love how they used still shots to instil emotions into the scene and assist in the story telling.

A very personal and emotional film for me.

I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I hit play but this movie was phenomenal. It was funny but also emotional asf that did a spectacular job at depicting adolescence. If you liked mid 90s definitely give this movie a shot!

I too desperately threw ‘<3’ in chats on AIM to casually let my crushes know I was head over heels for them. Way too relatable of a coming of age story about being misunderstood and finding yourself at an age where that’s nearly impossible.

Honestly this movie was just perfect. It felt like this wasn’t a movie and we were instead there watching this all happen. It was so realistic and fun/hard to watch. Depressing and heartwarming, luckily the ending was the latter.
