White man savior type movie — probably one of the best of its archetype though!

Nominated for 12 Oscar’s and won 7. One of Kevin Costners best. Directed and starred by, Costner is so good in this. Cinematography is the best. One of my favorite winners.

Kevin Costner is a great Actor and Director in this masterful film It shows heart,emotion,passion,and Mary McDonnell give a great performance.The story is beautiful,The score is powerful,and honestly I didn’t know it would also be funny in parts. But a damn good movie! 88/100

This movie became a classic for a reason, as a stirring drama, with a good love story, and historical context that made its viewers consider contrasting viewpoints we’ve all come across.

This is Kevin Costner masterpiece. What an amazing achievement in cinema, this being his directorial debut. Such beautiful cinematography and awe inspiring score.

I like the aesthetic of the prairie. Costners voice over thing usually annoys me but it works great in this setting. The wife is annoying.

Two socks

Incredible movie and beautiful music. Yes it's a long movie, but so worth it.

Die erste Hälfte des Films war teilweise wirklich sehr merkwürdig und teils random. Die zweite Hälfte wurde besser.
Der Film taugt als Drama mit Romantik, aber weniger als realistischer Einblick in die Zeit. Die Erzählung stammt klar aus einer „weißen“ Perspektive.

10/10 I’m glad I watched the extended version cause I enjoyed those 4 hours fully. It was so gorgeous and everyone acted their pants off. The US military sucks and manifest destiny is bs. Everything done to the Native American people was atrocious and they deserved none of it.

But long but real good civil war movie. Really shows the life of the natives and the relationship with the outside world.

For once Rotten tomatoes put it pretty well: “[DWW] suffers from a simplistic view of the culture it attempts to honor… [its] noble intentions are often matched by its epic grandeur.”
