I want to give this a higher rating, but I think the ending hurt it more than helped it.

Such mixed feelings. As a remake, it is a better film than the original. And so well acted. No fault to the performers. But completely tone deaf to the current era. And perhaps dangerous, since the radical redneck becomes the hero. Frightening for the wrong reasons.

Yorgos’ most accessible film to date because it’s not written by him (more grounded and overtly funny); a sharp satire on topical issues of class relations and political extremists. Excellent performances from everyone, even the unknown guy Aiden Delbis.

Yikes on the script side

Amazing performances by Emma Stone and Jesse Plemmons. Cinematography is amazing. However, the storyline fell a little flat for me. Seemed too predictable.

Fox Mulder would love this

As bizarre as you'd expect a Lanthimos project to be, although maybe his most grounded? I don't know where to begin with the physical production, as it's always a fever dream, from the colours to the acting to the designs to the sounds to the cinematography. Like I said, it's a fever dream. The storytelling and stories themselves are where Lanthimos usually loses me. There's always a whole lot going on, and the density is beyond deconstructing in just a single sitting. Fortunately, Bugonia had me glued almost the whole way through. As for the ending, it's controversial, and I can see why many didn't like it, but for that reason alone, I loved it.

Great acting, super intense, super fun premise, not a big enough pay off.

This was fucking insane, way more bolder and edgier than Yorgos Lanthimos’s other films, plus a pretty good remake.

This was just too painfully slow for me. The last act got interesting and picked up for sure but not enough for me to enjoy this movie overall.

Bugonia is a strange, dark sci-fi thriller mixing paranoia and satire. Uncomfortable, weird, and not for everyone, but bold and intriguing.

omg hahahaha what did i just watch. cinematography was sooooo good and crisp. that sequence of scenes at the end is officially one of my all time favorites. cast was really good too, this is definitely one of my favorite performances of jesse. the trailer made me uncomfortable so i knew i was in for something and was it something lol, so entertaining.

Yorgos Lanthimos is really the only thing freaks have left. Shoutout Yorgos for saving freak culture.
