Audrey Hepburn is the original manic pixie dream girl. Even though this is the most famous Hepburn movie, I’ve seen two lesser known ones before it (The Children’s Hour and My Fair Lady). The cat is my favorite character. Also all of the hats are quite the fashion statement.

Rewatched it.
There are definitely some cringey aspects to it including the very racist role of the Japanese guy. But if you put that aside, how can you not love this?

when she threw cat out into the rain,,, what’s when i lost all respect for her idk. like that was just cruel idk that she went back looking for cat and found them that was cruel and the cat didn’t deserve that. also i agree with holly that being in love with someone does not give you ownership of them and paul was trying to cage her. also the japanese impersonation from the landlord continuously threw me off and i did not enjoy that at all. still a solid movie tho

It can be faulted as a narrative and it doesn't take a serious moral view. But the people who querulously insist on such points have clearly not surrendered to Miss Hepburn's magic spell.

So Unbelievably Boring that I forgot I watched this until it was brought up that the cat is named cat— I now remember being forced to watch this sitting on the couch with my mom. She was so excited to show me while I was considering my many options of escape. I failed. So here.
