Ben-Hur
Ben-Hur deserves all the praise it gets. This film is excellent. Not only is it well written but it’s well directed and acted with a powerful narrative that can be appreciated even from a non religious perspective. There’s a reason this is such a revered classic. 9/10

Now THIS is what a movie with Christian elements should be like. This is the standard. And it’s incredibly high I fear.
Also how in the world did they film the chariot racing scene in 1959?!?

It’s a super fun and interesting movie. Heston sucks but the story and sets kick ass.

This is the definition of an epic. I had heard of the chariot race, and it did not disappoint. The scale of it was incredible. I did not realize it was going to have Jesus’s life woven into the thread of the film. For me it was interesting, and I’m not sure it was necessary.

Good but god was that long. That intermission was much needed by the time it finally came around!

Both a journey of epic proportions and of a single soul. Charlton Heston is great & brings Judah's great character arc to life. The music is fantastic & it's visually resplendent, with vast scope & gorgeous costumes, sets, & production. The chariot scene is a spectacular stunt.

A good story with an absolutely unreal chariot scene. Not convinced it needed to be 3.5 hours. Liked Ten Commandments more as an epic.

My Rating: 7.5/10
Nominated for 12 Oscar’s and won 11. This isn’t something I would put on naturally but I think everyone needs to see this once in their life. Good message behind it and the chariot scene and beautiful score throughout are top notch.

Wow, for a 3.75 hour long 50s movie this really impressed me. The whole thing was very captivating. I feel like the chariot racing scene was very well done given the time period this movie came out.

A visually stunning and ultimately groundbreaking film, especially for its time. Despite its insane runtime, I found myself enjoying every second of this film for its great storytelling, great tension and amazing character development for its time. I see why it did so well. 10/10
