Love films that are just pure interesting. Not as emotional as the last but has everything else. Hit after hit after hit at the end was just amazing to watch. Roll on part 3 🤞

We got to see our goat Jim again :) and hearing the 28 days later theme in cinema was a treat

This film really blew the first 28 Years out of the water, I liked the slower, more introspective style of this one. How’s that?

8.5 - My favorite of the series & it’s not particularly close. Even despite it being largely filler set up to close the trilogy.

I enjoyed 28 Years Later & had it as the best of the series last year. Kelson was the best character of the whole set, & its emotion was genuine & its tension was real - not just frenetic chaos.

This is much better. I absolutely love Nia DaCosta’s vision here. Ditching the iPhone cameras & the frantic cuts for the most part, & bringing so much of the story to its most intimate levels is beautiful, & gives this world that extra level of humanity it’s been missing. Ralph Fiennes is again the heart & soul, & his scenes working on Samson, offering both Samson & himself just a touch of peace for the first time in decades were surprisingly moving.

Not to say that it doesn’t have its fair share of horror & gore. Jack O’Connell is terrifying & the way his “fingers” operate is up there with some of the absolute worst post apocalypse story villains I’ve ever seen.

And when the two actors get together, it’s one of the most powerful & tense scenes of the series. The mental battle of religion vs science for humanity, & how these men’s beliefs have each carried them through this hellscape was absolutely captivating. I’m not sure there will be many more commanding couplings, even if just for a scene, on screen this year.

I’ve never been high on this series as a whole, but I’m seriously considering a second theater watch for this one. And I am excited for the third installment, but can’t help but wish it was DaCosta’s story to finish, instead of Danny Boyle’s.

Not as emotionally hard hitting as part one (for me), but a good sequel.

Fantastic sequel to the new series. Equal parts brutal and beautiful with great performances from Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell. Very weird film but it somehow works 9/10

Worst one in the series. I liked the one before untill momento mori. And this was legit momento mori the movie. However they did increase bone time on screen.😏 So if your into that, it's nice. 😂

It was pretty good. The ending was so great tho it gave me chills

I just loved it. Everything i need in this kind of movie. Maybe ghost instead of iron maden? ☺️

I was not a fan of part one so I was a little nervous going into this movie, however, I really enjoyed this movie. I feel the vibes changed and it was way more interesting overall. But my goodness did my jaw drop multiple times throughout this movie from shock. If you weren’t a fan of part one I would still give part two a chance.

I went in thinking it would be just another virus sequel, but the haunting, cult-centered nightmare totally caught me off guard.

What Worked:
The switch to the Arri Alexa 35 gave everything a much more textured, cinematic feel. That bond between Dr. Kelson and Samson was definitely the highlight for me; watching them connect over simple gestures was genius. Also, through my Methodist faith lens, Kelson’s refusal to give up on Samson’s humanity really hit home; it reinforced my belief that grace is reachable even in the most broken, “lost” souls.

The Cuts:
That naming gimmick where every gang member was called “Jimmy” made my head spin; it was way more annoying than clever. The big theatrical pyrotechnics at the end felt a bit too “extra” and briefly pulled me out of the gritty survival vibe. Also, the farm survivors were gone in a blink, so their struggle didn’t land with much weight.

Verdict:
A hauntingly beautiful film that explores evil without losing its heart. Must-watch for high-brow horror fans, but skip if you just want a basic slasher.
