The Count of Monte Cristo

One of the truer adaptations I've had a chance to watch. This show has meticulously crafted performances, stunning costumes, and a tightly wound plot that unravels with a lot of emotional drama.

Watched the French 2024 movie and the US 2002 movie, and while both were good in their own interpretations this series was so much better. There’s so much ground to cover that the movies can’t cover it all. One big change I would make is that they would have saved Fernand for last.

It’s technically everything I thought I wanted; it’s a very faithful rendition, and I had little to no issues with any of the changes they did make. Despite this I’m still unsatisfied.

All the performances were good, but the tone of every scene was off. It felt like everyone involved behind the camera was assigned this book for homework, and didn’t have any passion for the project.

Sam Claflin is amazing but I didn’t love the ending.
