was rly excited for this but got three episodes in and couldn’t do it anymore, this genuinely sucks and it’s boring asf. the whole thing between the story and hollywood stuff made it confusing and i really don’t understand why it’s even a plot line. ed geins story is pretty short and straightforward, it seems like they just put in a bunch of inaccurate shit for filler.

Okay so I really tried to watch this one and tbh I was low key excited for it I left my Friday free for this. But it’s such a difficult watch I got to episode 3 and had to say enough is enough. Cuz it’s so uncomfortable I get, I know what there trying to do but this isn’t it..no

This was actually terrible. What even was that last episode and why are we trying to make this guy relatable

Thought it was a bit meh to begin with, seemed like 80% of the shit was made up. Then the ending is just weird and that settled it for me.

I hate the way they tried to tie in the movies Ed apparently inspired. Made it confusing and detracted from the storyline of Ed’s murders which could’ve stood alone

Was excited to see this but it is way too non linear to enjoy. Jumped all over the place and way too confusing, trying to tie in all the movies he allegedly inspired. A total mess, could not get past episode 4 before giving up. Stick to the more informative podcasts

Heavily padded with fiction and weird themes trying to make you feel bad for and almost praising ed gein.

I had no Idea Ed Gein was the person who influenced all these movies and killers. It had different perspectives and also so creepy scenes. I think this one was the most successful one in three of the Monster series

I think the acting was amazing to the point of feeling empathy for him at the end

Every time I get excited for a show like this and start to watch I remember who made it and remember why I hate his shows.

Yes the content is disturbing and the subject matter gross, but that doesn’t mean it should be porn.

God this is weird. Truthfully, I hadn’t heard of Ed Gein at all before this and I had no idea of his influence on so many stories film and show wise. This is a good watch in terms of production and cast, but Gein’s story is just so messed up that this is a weird watch. Hollander as Hitchcock was the perfect casting choice.

Storytelling was so low that I watched it with 1.25 speed, lot of inaccurate stuff was thrown in and Overall literally very dark that I had to set up the brightness of my MacBook. Good actors, Overall: the Dahmer Series was a lot better

I love the monster franchise & love ryan murphy’s work and was really looking forward to this but didn’t really enjoy it tbh. The acting was good over all, but the writing.. lots of moments that “could have been an email”, it was hard to decipher his fantasy from reality too

Interesting seeing how a lot of horror movies stemmed from him.

I can’t believe NETFLIX did this and honestly respect… trying to be more on par with prime, hbo, and appletv I see you!!! For the most part very well done portraying this real-life monster and mixing story lines with the movies that were inspired by EG. better than AHS 🤷🏼‍♀️🔪💀

7/10 — It wasn’t my favourite of the Monster series, but what really stood out was Charlie Hunnam’s performance as Ed Gein. I liked the little pop culture nods to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Psycho. I didn’t mind it drifting from what was real and what wasn’t, but some of the “killing” scenes felt a bit ridiculous and even kind of goofy at times. Still, Charlie made Gein feel more human than monster. You can’t help but feel sorry for him — his mother and the lack of understanding around mental health back then really failed him and turned him into what he became.

I found the show a bit interesting, but I didn’t like the way it tried to portray Ed Gein as a “nice guy next door.” While it was well-made in parts, the tone felt off
