Defending Jacob
Laurie is one of the worst TV mom/wife to ever exist and she is the overlord of the cliché hated moms (Mrs. Franklin, Skylar White, Wendy Byrd, etc…) and if all those other moms were like the The Black Order, Laurie would be god damn Thanos or something
My hate for Laurie started in episode 4 when she wouldn’t stop overreacting about everything and causing so much problems
This spread to the next two episodes where she actually had like mini mental breakdowns and just kept tweaking on everyone and lying (even though she said no more lies)
She calmed down in the following episodes adding nothing to the show of value but at least she wasn’t being a menace to society….until the last episode
From the start of the final episode I was hoping this show was going to take the Ozark path and reveal that the villain had gotten away with it but instead all I got was 30 minutes of Laurie being the worst mother on the planet — she collected the 6 mental breakdown tropes and harnessed the psychosis gauntlet so she could erase all the heavy lifting the show did up until then
The show should have been called Surviving Laurie because she is the main villain
I hate Laurie
The shows good though if you can ignore how awful Laurie and the ending are

The story is interesting, but there are similar shows that did it better, like Your Honour or Presumed Innocent. None of the main characters were likable, I'm not really sure if this was on purpose. I also should've listened to the people who says the ending pissed them off.

It was really really well done! I can see why some people wouldn’t like the ending but I think it’s pretty profound. Most of the time in life, we won’t find out all the answers anyway, even for some of the big things. It’s so well done but it leaves you feeling hollow and sad tho

I enjoyed it a lot but what was that ending? Give me more answers! I was at the edge of my seat watching this entire show, my watch was all the time saying that my heartbeat was over 100 because of how much suspense is in the show

i watched this a few years ago and it was pretty good, but i was a bit bored at parts and i didn't like that the ending was open-ended
if we had another season i would've liked it more but idk

If you go into the show expecting a crime thriller, with investigating, edge of your seat suspense well this may not be the show for you. The show is nearly all dialogue and can be slow at times.Writing is great but more than 95% of the show is from the perspective of the family.

Season 1: 5/5 ⭐️
I’d been wanting to watch this miniseries for a long time, and I finally got the chance. Chris Evans, Jaeden Martell, Michelle Dockery, and J.K. Simmons all deliver outstanding performances, but Jaeden, as Jacob, truly stands out. As the prime suspect in the murder of one of his classmates, he barely shows any facial expression, making his performance even more unsettling.
The screenplay, color palette, and cinematography all work beautifully together. It’s the kind of miniseries that hooks you from the very first episode, but the final two episodes take the story in an incredible direction.
It also does a great job of showing how a family slowly falls apart under the weight of public scrutiny, friends, the media, and the ongoing investigation. How far would a father go to protect his own son? And do you really know the people around you?
Highly recommended. 💯

I told myself "just one more episode" every single night. The suspense is relentless, and I changed my mind about what happened at least ten times.
