Altered Carbon

Season 1 has made Altered Carbon one of the few shows I would rate 10/10. (I try not to think about S2.) The world building is absolutely amazing and the cinematography is gorgeous. It’s a gritty sci-fi murder mystery done very well. Love it! S2 was not as gritty ie not as good.

My teacher recommended this to me after realising I liked sci-fi. I didn't think I'd like it, and I guess I was right. The casting is fine, and the sci-fi elements are great. What isn't so great is the plot progression and surface-level world-building. I give credit to the creators for including so much, but then again, not much of it feels fleshed out enough or prominent to the story/world. The same goes for the dark themes. I was expecting more than just what most of us know. Overall, Season 1 is better than Season 2, but I struggle to pay attention to or finish either.

Really loved the trippy concept of this show. Went to read the book immediately after. Season 1 is definitely the front runner. 7.5/10

season 1 was phenomenal. i might never forget it or get tired of rewatching it. joel kinnaman’s portrayal of takeshi kovacs is so compelling. season 2 was the polar opposite. i hate to say it, but if it weren’t for anthony mackie, this show would still be airing.
