The more I rewatch this movie the more fucked up I realize Willy Wonka truly is. Between the tunnel scene and the blood red river in the chocolate room, Gene Wilder takes his role and makes it into something extremely interesting. Movie is still good after 50 years

This movie is sweet, if you know what I mean. 😉 But really, this is a classic.

A classic for sure but I feel like nostalgia plays a huge role when people think about this movie. Growing up with RD’s novels I prefer Johnny Depp’s version as it’s closer to how I imagined Wonka to be.

A timeless adaptation filled with catchy sing-alongs, charm, comedy, surreal absurdism, and a pinch of horror. Gene Wilder made the movie what it is, he truly embodied the character of Willy Wonka. No one will ever be able to do it better.

actually weird that I’ve never seen this and i used to love the Johnny depp one. Pretty good movie but Willy wonka was a bit coocoo for coco puffs like he was creeping me out a bit, watched with my dad and we giggled a bit so it was a good movie

What a weird and disturbing yet wholesome movie.

This movie is so nostalgic and horrifying! One of my childhood staples. WW is so creepy and full of madness, horrific yet so whimsical. Not to mention the effects and set design. I still like it to this day.

No wonder I was terrified of wonka when I was a child 😭😭

I prefer johnny depp as Wonka, this was good but opma lompas are nightmare they were so scary, disturbing and never ending scenes

I love this movie so much! It’s a whimsical adventure and I love gene wilder. It’s got some music but all the songs are so good. You can still catch me belting out candy man or pure imagination sometimes

Whimsical, timeless, and full of heart. The fact that the set was fully realized and not CGI… iconic. No Wonka can ever beat Gene Wilder. Some questionable things as the movie is a product of its time, but a solid watch nonetheless.
