Really good acting and super sad story

The last scene kinda bumps it up to a like, but it’s a little forced.

Unfortunately the lead isn’t strong enough, it’s no one’s fault, there’s a bit of growth needed before doing this type of role if you aren’t just a natural at it.

Mulligan’s character is overwhelmingly frustrating, which is good but god do I hate this character.

Jake is always Jake, nothing to say, not his strongest performance though, he wasn’t in it much so can’t really judge too well.

Lastly Paul Dano, I love you very very much, but we can definitely do better than this.

pretty depressing watch

I think the movie felt pretty slow and even slightly boring, but one thing that made this movie better was all of the different emotions this movie portrayed.

The movie could’ve had something more to it but I wouldn’t go calling it bad because the actors obviously did their job well so no complaints on that part.

So even if it felt slow and boring it had a lot of emotions to it which is a good thing to mention.

Of course a huge bonus which made this movie more enjoyable was having Jake Gyllenhaal on the screen.

Every ounce of satisfaction in this movie was ripped away almost immediately. Very hard watch. The main character was emotionless and didn’t show growth until the last 10 minutes. The directing and Jake Gyllenhaal were the only good things in this movie. Decent last scene. 4.5/10
