What's Love Got to Do with It Reviews

I didn’t grow up with Tina Turner’s music and only know a few songs and a bit about her life, mostly her relationship with Ike. But even still, this film really touched me. I don’t know if it’s her recent-ish passing or Angela Bassett’d performance but it did. I also have an appreciation for the fact that it’s based on Tina Turner’s experiences that she shared and through a production she was apart of. Makes it feel less exploitative, hollow, and sensationalized as many biopics do.

Angela deserved EVERY award for this movie. She embodied Tina effortlessly. I enjoy how the film focuses on Tina’s life in the 60s. It dives into how Anna Mae became TINA. It’s crazy to think that throughout all the ish she went through she still came out a legend! We miss you T🤎

9/10 Great film, A fantastic strong determined woman, A life hard hitting and emotional. Fantastic performances by all. Recommend.

Sad but a harsh reality

One of the best biopics ever made. It's a tough watch due to its honest depiction of abuse, but Bassett's "Oscar-worthy performance makes it essential viewing. A rare film that balances brutal honesty with an inspiring, life-affirming spirit.

I only knew a couple things about Tina Turner, so it’s nice to know the full story. It’s a great movie and a great movie for a biopic. I think Angela Bassett was the best person to play Tina Turner she did such a good job I will always feel like she had earned an Oscar for this

1/23/26: Fantastic acting, traumatizing story. I absolutely adored this film and Tina Turner. I did before, but it has increased tenfold! Angela Basset should have won the Oscar!!!

to this day whenever i see the real Tina Turner in photos i get confused, because growing up i thought Angela Bassett truly was Tina Turner
