The first half I loved. Should have just kept the family breaking down dynamic. The supernatural wasn’t needed and messed up everything. The ending was dumb as well. Just such a letdown when this was one it’s way to high ranks. Reminded me of something wrong with the children.

Slow tension builds to a really freaky scene at the end of the first act that had my jaw on the floor. However, nothing tops that moment for me and it just gets really messy and drawn out after that. Unfortunately, most of the acting is pretty horrible made so much worse by the awful writing. The way everything unfolds is so unrealistic and silly. Feels like a college writing project.
It has potential but it just focuses too much on the wrong things and lets a pretty scary premise slip away.

I just found out this was based off a book so I immediately read it and rewatched. I’m mad at the things left that were left out, but I did enjoy a few of the changes and I loved how many lines were transferred word for word from the book.

The writing was often really cheesy and it was never as tense as it felt like it was trying to be

Yes the first 2/3rds of this were better but I still enjoyed it all, 7.6/10

psychological horror/thriller
- heavy themes of familial disfunction
- graphic gore/body horror including self harm and domestic abuse
- wasn't enjoyable to watch tbh
- only cared about the kids as characters--specifically the daughter

very bleh. sierra mccormick has her usually very ok performance, and with the low budget and strange flashbacks and it just felt weird and gimmicky.

The ending sucked, unfortunate because it had potential to be good if they just ended it differently

I hate this thing so much I want to burn it. It was so good and then the ending gave no answers and it ruined the whole thing for me.
