I love a good alien-invader, world is ending type film. There is a focus on societal collapse and the human reaction. There’s humanity in this film, just as much as alien. The first half is definitely the most epic, and the sound and visuals are what really makes it great.

Honestly, I expected way more. I think the alien side came in way too hard and got annoyingly repetitive. Especially if you've seen other Spielberg stuff. The pacing is awful. The acting gets really irritating at climatic scenes and I love the visuals but it's so flat and grey. All I kept thinking was, instead of remaking already good content, why don't they remake stuff like this? So much potential, just needs improved structures/stories/characters. It felt like 19 people all with different ideas, told the same story. Sound design, as per Spielberg, was top notch. I get PTSD from it when I hear loud stuff outside. Please remake this.

An amazing movie until it ended. The absolute soul-crushing dread in this movie feels real. The story feels so hopeless but that’s where the investment comes in. Such an excellent story; and then the ending pulled the lamest cop-out ever. Still; huge improvement from the 50s one.

Most anticlimactic movie Ive ever watched, it’s like spending two hours trying and failing at making a lasagna and then at the end before you get to eat it in this built up climax Garfield comes out of nowhere eats it, spits in your face, and then you die from his common bacteria

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd Another Rewatch! Honestly I’ve been meaning to moved this to the “❤️” section. I rewatch this one at least twice a month. It’s not perfect but I genuinely love this film. 9.5/10

I think the plot is good. But the characters are horrible.

Very good, didn’t know this was Speilberg either but it was really good. Aliens looked sick and was about a dad protecting his kids. Crazy stuff happens but a lot made sense. Great movie and definitely worth the watch
