This was pretty mid. I don’t know I really couldn’t tell that they liked each other for some reason… it didn’t feel like a romance movie. It was odd. I do love the characters though, but it was like a comedy in the form of a romance movie. It just doesn’t feel like a romance.

Honestly, I can’t even describe why, but Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant feel like a pretty strange pair-up for a rom-com.

But… their chemistry actually works in a big way. The film around it? not so much, but rom-com plots rarely exceed their leads, so can’t expect this one to. Music choices often go pretty hard, cinematography is pretty naff and often kinda ugly - but it’s fine! It’s all fine, nothing more, nothing less.

As mentioned, Bullock and Grant do a pretty admirable job with the script they’re given. This era of the genre felt extra reliant on star power, and you really feel it here. The supporting cast, whilst fine, are underwhelming and I felt there was a lacking space for another big name.

Randomly watched quite a few of Sandra Bullock’s films recently, and not even intentionally! No complaints, there’s far worse actresses to keep stumbling upon…
