sophie honey… this sucks

This was a movie I put on while doing other things and still was able to follow along. It has some rough acting at times and is predictable but I didn’t hate it.

This was so dumb. Science and common sense took a back seat as well as acting and dialogue along with story telling. And you had latent here. You didn’t use it, much like using your brain when choosing to write this film.

One of the worst movies of the year. Painfully bad and laughable. Skip this one

After seeing this was starring Sophie Turner, I put my hopes up and trust in. Unfortunately, the movie reaches its peak ten minutes in, at a certain transition. From then onwards, it's a downhill spiral of overcooked generic nonsense. The acting and everything that comes along with it is on the same devastatingly low bar as the movie as a whole. Disappointing writing, delusional pacing, and desperate performances. The only shining star quality is probably Georgie (the dog).

If you want to watch something that makes you want to punch a wall like a toxic man… watch this

.9 - This is one of my most talked about movies this year because I can’t quit telling people how stupid & nonsensical it was. I almost want to rate it lower the War of the Worlds to be honest but it wasn’t at least all soulless corporate slop. There’s spoilers here I won’t even mark because you should not watch this movie.

Sophie Turner kind of tries, credit where it’s due. But I’ve never seen less attention to detail.

There are big issues like how the inciting incident & social commentary for the background story is almost completely abandoned after it is introduced in the opening few scenes. Or how these writers don’t know what a sit-com is, because it isn’t just people in an audience just laughing at poorly delivered lines. And the whole time line doesn’t make sense, from the ages of the sit-com actors & when their relationships started to how long was Lauren even trapped?

And there are medium-sized issues. Why was the pipe bursting with no water turned on? Why could the door handle not be reinserted into the latch? And if a room is filling with water & there’s a giant hole where the door handle should be, why is there only a trickle out? Also, if the door hinges are inside, it can’t fall outward.

Then there are small issues. The picture that Katie Sagal’s character took of Georgie & said “that looks good” to was just not the same picture two seconds later on her Instagram. Also, Georgie changed genders in script at least twice. And if you’re hit by a ricochet bullet in the chest in one shot, why are you showing up in the hospital with an arm injury the next?

I could probably go on, but the little things made the medium things & the big things that much worse. The audience (myself sort of included) laughed when we weren’t supposed to from the ridiculousness, groaned at the development more than a couple times, & all left the theater rather disappointed from the sound of the conversations I overheard.
