Toy Story 2
OP Incel Discord final boss vs. toys. Compared to the first, the improvements are almost astonishing. The animation is slightly better, but the story and themes are significantly better and bigger. I'm surprised I even understood what was going on as a child. There's so much that happened and too much I want to mention. The references to other pieces of media, the voice acting, the lore, the gang and new additions, the fix-up and airport scene, the jokes, the emotional montages, the bloopers, and basically the entire runtime.

This movie is a masterpiece in my opinion, because I still remember almost every scene in this movie and I don’t have that a lot.
The most rememberable scene is the one where woody’s arm is being fixed by the old man.
I think this is the best movie in this franchise

so garbage. idek how this got through to a production company tbh. i hate when people try and start franchises that dont need to be started. sure we wouldve never gotten toy story 3, but this was just horrible

These movies can’t miss. You make a great movie and yet even though Disney is semi involved you make a great sequel that’s a first. Bullzye is my favorite character of maybe all of Disney. Also I like the Jessie and Buz love going on. I like How Woody stayed for Bo peep. 9/10.

Rated: 8.9/10 ⭐️
I expected a fun nostalgic trip, but the deep emotional themes of abandonment totally blew me away.
What Worked:
Calahan’s lighting gives the film a tactile weight, capturing the terrifying scale of a toy’s world. Through my Faith Methodism lens, Woody choosing the messy reality of loving Andy over eternal glory reminds me that true purpose is serving others in the present. Unkrich’s editing and Newman’s score also give the story a super dynamic flow.
The Cuts:
The middle really dragged for me; wandering around Al’s Toy Barn stalls the momentum. Keeping it spoiler-free, the surprise villain’s turn feels half-baked and rushed before the climax. Plus, cramming in extra comedic gags feels disjointed from the heavy emotional core, making the vibe inconsistent.
Verdict:
A stunning sequel that surpasses the original. Perfect for a heartfelt story about purpose, but skip if you aren’t ready to cry over a cowgirl’s backstory.
Line: “I can’t stop Andy from growing up. But I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

This is one of my favorites thanks to Woody’s backstory (specifically Jessie).
