The Wailing
That little girl delivered one hell of a performance, goddamn! I'm slacking on Korean horror films because I've seen quite a few now, and they kind of dominate the genre nowadays. Starts out slow, but when it kicks in, the film grips you and gets more intense as it goes on.

I watched this right after Parasite, so maybe my expectations were set too high. Although the acting is great, some of the events feel overdone or “horror for the sake of horror”. I enjoyed it still, but nothing here really sticks out for me. Decent 6

I wish there was a rating between “meh” and “like.” The film overall is a good one. It shows great writing, direction, and acting but dang was it slow. I like a slow movie but this was too slow. Going to watch Exhuma next… I hope I enjoy that one more.

Damn near every character was horrendously maladaptive, the plot made a decent amount of sense but left way too much up to the interpreter, and it was weirdly racist? Like wtf did I just plunge 2 and a half hours into

It will keep you guessing the entire time, the suspense and dread are wonderful. Don't commit to a single theory; stay open minded. You never know who you can trust.

Really interesting horror-mystery story with very strong writing and plot twists to keep the audience guessing - I dont know how well the horror worked for me, not very many true scares or moments of very strong tension but still a very entertaining story

Apotheosis of supernatural horror and detective crime thrillers. That game of chess ending was extremely provocative after having managed to keep you on edge for 2.5 hours. Incredible atmosphere in the rural setting with one of the best child performances i’ve ever seen.

6/10 it’s really good, it was unsettling and creepy. But it just dragged too long, no clue why they are it this long.

Similar to grief, this movie was confusing and sad. But I think that was the point? Not something I’d return to, however, it left me considering tragedy and the emotions of this movie. That seems to be worth something.

It was more frustrating than it was entertaining, I liked the plot and the acting, but damn how can a protagonist do everything wrong

Overall enjoyable. I think the second half was my favorite, contrary to most horror movies. All around fantastic performances from the cast and really beautiful cinematography.

Unnecessarily long and convoluted. Some genuinely horrific moments and then also at times found myself laughing out loud. Good performances but the point of it all didn’t land with me.

Great twists that left me questioning certain things. Ending was wrapped up nicely but a bit dramatic for my taste. A story of doubting your faith and the audience has to question what is happening along with the main character. Could have been bit shorter but still a great film.

Bit longer than it needed to be, but we had some good discussions about it afterwards. Interesting interpretations.
